    As I write this I'm waiting for reception to open at the grindelwald youth hostel. Only 2 more hours to go... This leg of the trip couldn't be more different in company, surroundings or situation.     When we got up the next morning, we found ourselves surrounded by clear mountains that were visibly gigantic but a cloud-base in the valley made it impossible to see the tops.
