    When we got up the next morning, we found ourselves surrounded by clear mountains that were visibly gigantic but a cloud-base in the valley made it impossible to see the tops.     ... give as much character to Lauterbrunnen as the mountains, they resemble ginger bread houses from some kind of children's' book. The town is also completely neat and tidy in a ruthless Germanic kind of way.
