The Bulgarian wrap-up. End of an Era.

... funny, is it? Well, at this junction, I think it's about time we introduce... Pavelski. Obviously, there are a number of people who'll be reading this who already know Pav (is this hopeless optimism? Does anyone really read it?) but equally so, there are many who won't. Pav is the partner of my good mate Geoff's sister, "Schmal", and I suppose you could say that he is one of the reasons the Marshes came to Bulgaria. Aside from being a very motivated business man and a very nice ...

... checked us through on a different check in and found that, gee golly gosh! They really were under weight. There were a stack of people on that flight who were paying hand over fist for over weight bags too. What a scam! More like Cheeky Jet than EasyJet. After having made us ditch all the extra weight (well, after having told us we'd have to pay for it which is the next best thing to telling us to ditch it), the woman then looked at our pile of stuff and said we could put ...

Hotel Panorama - Tsigov Chark

The resorts have minimal staff working during the weeks in summer so we were the only people staying there. The cleaner let us in and the manager turned up later to get our money. Even though they had wireless internet access in the centre, I could not get it from my room, so we had to sit out in the open foyer to get a signal. There is a lot of marble in the structure of the building so I guess that the solid structure of the resort makes the signal ...

Hitch Hiking: A way of travel life.

... there on my way south to Primorsko. Well I arrived in Primorsko the next day for the "childrens folklore festival." Which was kind of a dissapointment. I had heard it was going to be live music and dancing but in the end it was recorded music and dancing. Don't get me wrong it was cute, kids dressed up in traditional costumes dancing traditional dances....but after a few songs I was like.....I came all the way here to tourist land for this? oh well Opps ...

Learning...

June 14, 2008 - Learning... Well, its been just under 3 weeks now since I left the states. And to be honest, besides not getting to see the people that I love and those who I call friends, i dont feel as though I am in a foreign country, well at least not all the time. I hope that everyone has been able to make it out of the storms that have recently come through the greater michigan area without too much damage from them. The ...

A Little bit of Sunshine

Today marks video entry #1 as a brief clip of what some of the things that we are looking for prayer on. But outside of that... Today we spent the day in Greece, first going to Ikea and then going to see Spring Arbor University's group of 19 that are on what is called a cross cultural. Jokes were made that I ...

What Did I get myself into?

Last night, I was in bed and began thinking about what my summer would be like had I not come here. I had never even considered how crazy this whole idea is until I had actually gone ahead and left the U.S. But I suppose it will all work out as God intends. Saturday night, the mellingers played host to a missions group who was heading back to the states. Basically we had a diner party, which included the local pastor and ...

Open Ocean, Clean and Clear

It was at approximately 945 pm EST, well at least i think it was it was probably earlier though. I've lost all time frame reference, all i know is that it is currently -52 degrees F outside of the plane and dark, and that we are somewhere smack dab over the middle of the atlantic ocean between New Foundland and Great Britan. I find myself seated in what is called Economy Plus, which is so nice. I have plenty of ...

Greetings from Bulgaria

... morning playing tourists and strolling around London, then we spent the afternoon playing Australian and sending pints downrange at a pub back in Twickenham. The next morning saw us get up at a positively ungodly hour to catch our flight from Gatwick to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Coming into a country that only abandoned communism 15 years ago was a pretty interesting experience. The taxi ride from the airport to the bus station was quite an ...
