    Woke up at 7:40am; mostly sunny, warm, light rain shower in late afternoon in Chamonix (25C) Croissants from Boulangerie near hotel --- Le Grenier a Pain Left for Chamonix at 9:00am (€8.40 for tolls); arrived in Chamonix at 10:20am Parked in Medateque lot (€13) Took a cable car up Aiguille Midi (€228) --- stopped at a mid-point & changed cars to the summit; Met a couple guys ...

    ... taking for me coming down the steep bank on my bum, not very lady like I have to say...

    We stopped off before we went into the tunnel to take some more photos and a drink. No Queues so we went straight in, they are very strict on speed and no over taking.

    After which seemed for ever, we entered Italy. Again ...

Eventually her friends came in and when her meal was set in front of her she walked over and plopped some of it on each of our plates so that we could try it. Her name is Nanou and she was a hoot. The man a few seats away from me decides to move to the seat across from me and after the "bonjour" exchange he realizes I don't speak any more French but that has not deterred him from trying to chat.     ... Chamonix really felt like real spring, that fresh garden smell, birds chirping, rivers flowing and just everything coming back to life again. It was simply beautiful!
