    ... a beautiful old town on the lake. It was tricky to find somewhere to park but we decided to try the chairlift car park in Obertraun.     ... mountains behind it. I chose to walk up the path to the lookout rather than take the Funicular. The lookout is 400 metres up the mountain, and is accessed by a path that zig zags up the face. Boy was it hard work. No wonder everyone took the funicular. The view was rather spectacular.

    ... and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. In addition, the lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo known for its clarity.
