I stayed here while on a business. When I arrived I was mortified. The proximity of the hotel to Times Square was great. However, the list of problems with the room canceled out any benefits. Problems included: Dirty rooms, inadequate temperature controls, broken window "fixed" with a dirty towel and phone book to keep the draft out -- which it did not, broken alarm clark on the TV, old mattress, old torn-up carpet, tiny closet, shower mold, and poor lighting. Hotel problems included: slow and small elevator, dirty hallways, and smoking odor throughout the building. A co-worker stayed here as well, and was shocked to discover the staff had packed his clothes and moved him to another room during the middle of our stay without explanation. I requested non-smoking, upper level -- but was given smoking and first-floor. My hotel bill also included exorbiant telephone charges and a room-lock fee of $1.00 / day (?)! I know this is Manhattan and you get what you pay for, but I would assume $120 a night could at least pay for cleanliness and common decency.

We ordered two rooms with double beds for four
couples they gave us two rooms with 1 queen
bed and would not give us what we ordered.
One room there was no heat and the window was broken in where the cold came in.
They gave our room keys to someone else and
two men came walking into our room while we
were getting dressed.
They do not care about customer service.

Stayed here 26/10 and the hotel cannot be faulted for it's location.
Great Location, clean, & quiet.
Stayed here the last week of September. Room was very clean and quiet. Service was modest but acceptable, breakfast was crowded but acceptable. You can't beat the location or price! Only 1/2 block from Times Square. Only complaint is the elevators are slow - so I used the narrow stairs up and down to the 7th floor. Fine for me - but not everyone.
We booked a room for 3 people. It was like pulling teeth to get any help at the front desk-check in area. Our 1st room had NO air conditioning in July in 98 degree weather. They finally gave us another room, it had air but only 1 double bed for 3 people and was the size of a closet. We fought with them until 10:00 that night when we finally gave up and one of us slept on the floor. They couldn't even get us an extra pillow. And when we asked for a cot, it wouldn't fit in the room b/c the room was approx 8ftx8ft with a double bed, 2 night stands and a small dresser. My closet at home was better. I got NO satisfaction from the sales manager. And better yet, I paid the full $119.00. This was the poorest customer satisfaction I ever recv'd. I'd rather sleep on the street with the homeless than to stay here.
Nice Location near times square
We were upgraded from a junior suite to a suite, and ended up with one overlooking the street. The room was clean and nicely decorated with a good shower. Rooms were smallish which is to be expected in NYC. One strange feature of this hotel is the elevators. The 2 were small, slow to respond and widely separated. We were on the fourth floor and took the stairs whenever we could. Breakfast room was small and often crowded, and hopefully someday they will get a real comercial toaster.
I would consider using this hotel again, however given the quality of the rooms and the prime location, just a stones throw from times square.
My first stay (March 2003) at the Quality Hotel Times Square was so pleasant that I went back a month later & stayed again.
When we arrived atr the hotel we had to wait an hour to get checked in. Then when we finally checked in the drawers were mucky and not even fit for your shoes. There were muck marks all over the walls, the radiators was packed up with cardboard, there was holes and blood on the bed sheets and curtains. Also the toilets foll when you flush them. My fellow students rooms were the same if not worse at least one of the rooms had cockroaches that entered and exited the room throught a gap in the wallpaper. If you are planning on staying at that hotel you might want to pack some bug repellant.
Stayed at the Hampshire and had one of the best New York trips yet. Although it is no Trump Tower, the service was on time, the staff were very kind and warm and the location was superb; in between Times Square and a short walk to many other attractions. Will be going back next month!
Just got back from a four night stay in New York City (my first visit). I booked two rooms for the Hampshire Hotel and Suites, one for a friend and her two daughters, and one for my two daughters and I, throught Orbitz. I requested adjacent rooms. My friends room was ok, and as described, but ours was smaller, and the "double" bed turned out to be a single sleeper sofa that was incredibly uncomfortable. Both rooms were on the same floor, but as far apart as possible. After two days of complaining, they did allow us to move to a much nicer, and closer room, but would not offer a discount on my first two nights. They claimed the room was advertised (I booked a "queen and a double" and got a full and a twin). The two elevators are very tiny and very slow. The continental breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, muffins and crossiants. Same every day. The staff (except for the cleaning people) are not very friendly. We were on the 4th floor street side, and the noise level was pretty high. On the positive side, the location is excellent for all the shows and many other attractions. The place is relatively clean. There is no pool, despite a pool being listed as an amenity on many web sites. I would not really recommend this place. We paid $925 (including taxes) for four nights.
