We went to Goelitz and Bautzen this day. We didn't depart from our hotel until after 1pm. Goerlitz was about 1.5 hours from Dresden. We had only about an hour to walk in Gorlitz because mom wanted to visit Bautzen. What a rush!!!! We took the tram in Gorlitz... walked through a nice park... saw the river where Poland was on the opposite side... asked for directions from an old man across the street and he kindly stopped and crossed the road to help ...

... train (at 14:22) straight to Potsdam Park Sanssouci. It took about 2 hours. The first sight was the New Palace. There was an information board that showed seven photos. We actual made it to them all. The funny thing was we couldn't find Schloss Charlottenhof and were sidetracked. There was a couple areas of wet mud for it rained a couple of time before. ... they are not poisonous. After the 3 hour boat ride we went into the town and had an ice cream before setting back to the holiday house. When we got back we went out on the boat and it was really hard to paddle because of all the slimy green weeds and the water smelt worse than cow manure. ... was excellent- not too much information with amusing asides- perfect. All the guides have been the best we have ever experienced.
We were moored in Koblenz all evening so some people went out to dinner or to the bars. The ship did a Germanic buffet of regional dishes. Not that keen on german food we were relieved to find fabulous roast beef aand pork in the galley so we could also get to see where all the food is prepared.
