It frreakin' SNOWED today. I was expecting a day of sunshine but I only got a 20 second preview of blue sky this morning outside of town on the way to Salzburg Zoo. Check out the first pic to see what I thought was the unveiling of the mountains I've been longing to see. But instead I got the beauty of snow for a few hours. It didn't stick but it was still pretty magical to have it fluttering around me as I walked along the Monnschberg ridge above the old town. This was also the first day since I left Brunei that I found the cold manageable rather than painful. I don't know whether I ...

Side note: the travel guide complemented me in front of everyone for my beautiful ...

By a stroke of luck, the clouds parted for a few brief minutes at sunset and we rushed out into the freezing cold to take what turned out to be some cracking photos. Then it was back inside to warm up and develop a deeper appreciation for Austrian music. We started with anything that contained the name “Kathi” in the title, of which there was more than one (including this techno-oom-pah earworm, Hintermoser Kathi) ...

... is dominated with baroque constructions, churches and the massive castle - Festung Hohensalzburg.

Our first stop was the Salzbuger Dom, the city's cathedral of Salzburg. . The first Salzburg Dom was recorded in 774 and it was stroked by lightening and burned down in 842. There had been a few fire after that and the Dom was fianlly reopended around 1200.
