Arriving in the Netherlands

Arrived on time and bought a Dutch sim card for my phone. I'll be here for a while and lots of people to contact and it will be handy for transport apps to have a bit of data too. Then off to get a transport card for travelling on the trains and maybe buses too.

I found the right train with one change at Zwolle and then Rosa met me at Groningen train station.

It is great to be here and it is sunny and warm!

Me, Tamara, Carmen, and their grandma spent the past week in Langeoog. It is pretty small island, but it has been so much fun. The island doesn't allow cars so we have to bike everywhere, and it is honestly a nice change. It's very peaceful here and the beach is so beautiful. Yes, it is in the North Sea, so the water was freezing but we still went swimming and had such a great time. I definitely hope to come back and vacation ...

... speciaity"fischbrotchen",a bread roll with about 3 pieces of slimy,cold fish.Don't mention to Roger ,he is still trying not to gag after eating one! The islands are a different and interesting envirionment,prime holiday spot for Germans,with very few English speaking visitors . We enjoyed riding bikes along the canals in this interesting small town but are starting to yearn for Phillip Island again and looking forward to moving on to ...

... t looking good-but Darren found a very idyllic location on the sea side of the dyke-out of sight. We were treated to a gorgeous sunset across the water.

Next day we saw sheep, sheep & more sheep under a bright blue sunny sky. I could swear I was in New Zealand without the mountains! The livestock provided enormous pleasure for the girls as there were many cute spring lambs with their mothers. There were many attempts to try and pat the lambs-not ...

... to go up before they can get in or out of the Ijsselmeer, which is like a lake but is only shut off from the sea by the causeway.
It's pretty interesting to watch as there is all sizes of boats coming and going.
Then we head to Edam, it is a lovely little town on the water , canals, tiny streets, loads of shops and a wedding as we were coming into the town square.
