    ... shots and 8 euro beers. We did go into a coffee shop and paid 10 euro for an ounce of hash between us. Being the amateurs that we are, we had no idea how to use it though!     ... Met some other Dutch people, you are right they are all v nice. A lot of them said that Amsterdam dead as far as night life on Sunday-Wednesday so we had come at the wrong time.     The other thing Alkmaar is famous for is the open air cheese market held every Friday. Large cheeses are traded on the market place. I am not sure if it is all for real or just a tourist thing. Anyway "where’s the cheese" means that I arrived just too late to enjoy this spectacle.

    ... of people biking. They are everywhere, you would probably find a place to park your car before you find a place to park your bike. It is quite funny how you see people in business suits biking down the road on the oldest bike imaginable. They have really good bike lanes and if you are walking on it the bikes will ring their bells at you and if you don't move you will probably get knocked over or yelled at.
