As regards our Romanian holiday we have booked our accommodation, a real mixture of smart(ish) hotels, wayside B&Bs and self catering. We have the outline of a route-around 4000 kms in total taking us over the Transalpina and the Transfagarasan via a few castles all the way to the Danube Delta on the Black Sea and back via the Iron Gate Gorge,Belgrade and Zargreb.
A big day was planned as I had located a Triumph dealer in the town of Villach which was some 370 plus kms from Innsbruck. The bike needed servicing and the rear Tyre was looking a bit second hand. Marg needed her hair serviced as well so we set off straight after breakfast with a mindset to make frequent stops to break up the rather long haul. We went for a walk around the inner city - lots of umbrellas hanging up above the streets. Something is going to happen - but I don't know what. It was very nice, but rather deserted. This time we wanted a restaurant, and could only find bars and places that sold ice-cream!
Had a nice meal at Landhaus restaurant. The building above, with the outside staircase, was built 1574-94. Cool.
... at a plant nursery because they had a special open day. What an amazing nursery - they have all the beautiful trees and plants that grow well in this climate as well as a surprising collection of exotics - cactus, bougainvilla, citrus trees and palms. Many people here have sunrooms so I imagine they create exotic indoor gardens to get them through the snow time.
