... my gosh, so worth it. As we headed around the last bend, there Portofino was in all her glory. We jumped out and headed straight into the midst of Portofino, took a hill climb to see the large church perched on the hill, had a wander around the cemetery then headed to the Castle which is right at the top of the mountain of course. From here the views are fabulous and Portofino is a beautiful seaside hamlet nestled below some glorious mountains. ...

After breakfast (and lunch combined), we're off, hoping to book a trip to Cinque Terre tomorrow and maybe Portofino today. And we did exactly that which was great. Boat trip along the coast stopping at. Camogli and Santa Fruttuoso before getting to Portofino. I haven't done this part of the coast by boat or been to Portofino before so that was good. Lots of expensive yachts and launches and all the 'brand' shops ...

... which I am pleased to say he enjoyed very much. I know it’s a no brainer but the last time I used a percolator I reckon was making coffee for Dad before he headed off to work his night shift when I was a kid.

... getting to know they people you occasionally bump into as you rush from here to there.

We had a great dinner on the 11th deck, right off the back of the boat. We think as we travel further south we might be able to enjoy the outside dining, right now it is too cool in the evenings.

We had another great day and we are looking forward to seeing Rome and our friend Ed Weed and his fiancée Barbara in Rome tomorrow.

... countries are very set in their cultural ways by now you'd think. I have personally travelled much more in Italy than France so felt more at home on the Italian side.
