... you could eat and soak your feet in a hot bath while enjoying the view) were taken but the yummy treats made us soon forget our disappointment. We planned on exploring for the rest of the morning then grabbing lunch before hiking. We were unsure the best way to proceed as we couldn't see everything nor did we want to get too tired before our hike. To the south was a scenic park jutting out into the lake. On the north shore sits the Hakone shrine. We decided to let Will ...

This morning we head off to Hakone, about 80 min train ride away from Tokyo, to stay in a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). Hakone is located in Japan's Fuji National Park known for hot spring resorts and Mt Fuji views. At least we are told there are good views of Mt Fuji, not that it ever made an appearance for us. There was no shower in ...

The surrounding gardens are beautiful with 2 waterfalls and a small shrine. Cam and Omi had a soak in the hot tub and Celie is amused because when you open the toilet door the toilet lid automatically puts itself up and makes a sound like 'hi'. We area about to go to dinner, not sure what to expect but we're very excited. Until ...

... think I selected a fish burger. At least it was tasty. We found a spot along the wall by the sea and ate a quick lunch. We then joined the bottleneck of people on the Main Street. Packed shops and restaurants lined the pedestrian thoroughfare leading towards Hetsunomiya, the main Enoshima shrine. We trudged with the masses spending twenty minutes walking two blocks. As we entered the Tori gates, the crowded somewhat dissipated. It was still congested, but ...
