    A day in Venice

A travel blog entry by soozziip on Jul 08, 2015

After a naughty breakfast... Who can resist pannacotta and baked cheesecake for brekkie?... Set off through the canals for a glass blowing demonstration at Murano! Amazing.... And the obligatory walk through the sales section where they think you're going to spend €100's on the very beautiful glass! And of course the warnings that anything else is imitation! Nice to ...

Last night we found a brilliant little wine bar not far from our hotel. Naturally we had pasta and it was good! I also sampled a local red (excellent) and Tor had a beer (not as good as the Efes from Turkey, she reckons). Christmas has arrived in Venice. It seems as if in the course of just one day all the shops, hotels are public places are getting their trees and decorations out. They are even raising a massive tree in Piazza San Marco. We went back this afternoon to have a look but ...

Had a little sleep in then a leisurely breakfast. The hotel breakfasts are fantastic......the thing I love most about Italy is that they love to eat cakes, pastries and other desserts for breakfast :) of course there are much more healthy options on offer aswell. Then it was off out to explore Venice. What an incredible place. So unique, romantic and intriguing, you can feel ...

Again the weather today appears to be unsettled, cloudy and quite fresh. At least at 7am. This part of the blog is being written at that time and we are about 4 hours away from Venice. Last night, we could see sheets of lightning over Croatia as we sailed past.

We have the whole day and night in Venice before we disembark for the last time tomorrow. We hope to go over to two nearby islands – Murano and Burano. Murano is the place to see expertly made glass ...

Gondola Ride on the Grand Canal

... city was built and then after it was built the water came in and flooded the streets. In the small canals that go in between the building I also learned that the water is only two meters deep as where the depth in the Grand Canal is only around 5 meters. I also got to see a prison as well as where Mozart lived. After the gondola ride we walked through a little market, walked through some grocery stores, bought some of the BEST chocolate, witnessed first hand a fish ...
