Another stifling day. Usual line up to disembark ship onto bus. Guide today was Australian who has lived in Italy for 20 years and was excellent. ... we needed to get a water taxi to our hotel. The boat took like an hour to travel to our stop. By the time it got there Ash was wishing she could have taken a travelcalm! ... the old parts of town. It is almost impossible to describe. On The Grand Canal you see big houses, very opulent places and lots of people. On the small canals it is quiet, smelly in parts and very old and worn out. After our ride we had a 45 minute wait for our boat to the island of Lido.
