    Another stifling day. Usual line up to disembark ship onto bus. Guide today was Australian who has lived in Italy for 20 years and was excellent. Drove about hour to Pisa through beautiful countryside full of history which John the guide filled us in on. Bus has to be parked well out and had twenty minute walk in.     ... we needed to get a water taxi to our hotel. The boat took like an hour to travel to our stop. By the time it got there Ash was wishing she could have taken a travelcalm! Once off the boat we had a short walk to our hotel before being told it wasn't ready because of having no water last night. This was a bit concerning.     ... the old parts of town. It is almost impossible to describe. On The Grand Canal you see big houses, very opulent places and lots of people. On the small canals it is quiet, smelly in parts and very old and worn out. After our ride we had a 45 minute wait for our boat to the island of Lido.     Some might say we wasted a day in Venice today....I would say I spent a day in paradise with a little explorer.

    We played, swam, chased lizards, played with dogs, (of course) ate cold pizza and rested.
    To summarize, we didn't leave our little house today!
