... to in England. Close to Pondy is the strange society of Auroville. Created in the 70s by a French woman they call the 'mother' it claims to be a society where all are equal and can get along and a lot of other hippy cult ****. I feel the same about Auroville as I do ashrams (they're not really top dissimilar), intriguing to go and see/experience but ultimately full of loonies. There were grand plans for Auroville but things slackened off after they built ...

After Kaete had a few boys following her selling her these fold up bracelet things which she showed some remote interest in, we returned to the guest house. It was about 8pm by this time and the cars and autos were settling down a little. After some washing and a little tv, gosh those American crime shows hook you in, I finally went to sleep about 1am. ... and they'd happily take your money any time of the day, so I can only guess that the last point is France's fault.
Interestingly, despite India gaining independence from British rule in 1947, Pondicherry had to wait until 1954 to be free from the French.
Denise and I went our own ways this week. Not because of a drastic falling out but because she's booked on a week long course at a Pondicherry hotel focusing on consciousness in leadership and business etc with her ...

and............ amazingly someone's at home!

Today's been a much needed good day and the mighty impulse is once more back to being a top overland bike ;-)

This once more happy camper had breakfast (looking out to sea) before riding to Jay Bharat Hero dealer in the hope of getting his bike fixed.

I arrived, as suggested, at 11am and had a quick chat about new parts and their shiny new donor ...

... rock carving heritage and industry. The fisherman's beach wasn't much to behold and the local tourist hangouts seemed to have lost their vigor and quality, so we quickly moved onto Pondicherry down the coast hoping for much culture and life.....only to be sorely disappointed.
