... woods on either side of us. Motorway busier the closer we got to Vienna, but generally speaking lots of trucks going in both directions. A little drizzly rain from time to time as we headed further north. Temperatures lower too, dipping as low as 9 over the alps. Stuck in traffic on way in due to realignment of the road for half hour or so. Hotel Danube Hilton is situated on the river, which by the way, should not be called the blue Danube! ...

I didn't mention yesterday that in typical fashion for us, we kind of put off making hotel reservations until pretty late, so we didn't pick a ski area so much as found a good hotel and then found the closest ski area to the hotel. Fortunately, there are hundreds in Austria, so it all worked out. Despite the fact that Google said we still had 8 kms to go, Keith still has common sense ...

    The obvious family rides again

If the Andres are the redundant family, we are apparently the obvious family. On our drive tonight, we passed a sign post with about 30 tiny arrow signs pointing in different directions. Keith pointed it out and said "If you didn't know where you were going, it sure would be hard to find." I just looked at him and said "Um, yeah." We have arrived in Bruck an der Mur, ...
