A little dated, but homey and that's nice. But. Expect to pay for every little extra.

... Aus. We saw Anni and Michael in Munich in May. We all went out to lunch at a beautiful outdoor Tyrolean restaurant in the hills overlooking Kufstein. Back to relax and sit in the garden of the cottage overlooking the lake that had belonged to Anni's maternal grandmother. Then out to dinner overlooking the lake before all the travellers returned to Munich. Anni had arranged a lay-day for us at the hotel tomorrow, to catch up on ...

... our "emission" status, which had obviously not changed! Then on to Walchsee, beautiful lake surrounded by mountains, in the pouring rain! I had been there many times since my teens and John had been too with me, last on 2006. Met by good friend Sophie and her friend Birgit, and settled into our hotel. Then out to dinner in nearby Kossen, for typical Tyrolean ...

The drive today is one of the nicest we've had. It's a long way, 4 hours, but mostly through towns and resorts so lots to look at - stunning scenery; more wooden houses bursting with flowers, over flowing as if in competition (maybe they are?) and big mountains, really ...

... a few hours we walk back toward the town center and have an excellent meal at one of the many restaurants on the lake side. Dani takes his leave and heads back to Munich for work and studies, leaving us to return to the peaceful solitude of the condo. We watch some of the World Cup and play yahtzee to while away the hours. Our friend Mike Weindl called and made plans to meet us the next day. Mike has recently moved back to his native Germany from ...

... and walked for a while until the path was better and finally reconnected with the road – what a relief. It was still quite steep so our brakes got a good workout but it was exhilarating to go along with no effort whatsoever; in fact I was quite disappointed when we eventually reached street level.

Lofer was almost deserted (at 4pm in the afternoon) as we bowled along past shops, guesthouses and ...
