... market, but we only had one night there, barely enough time to enjoy the atmosphere. Compared to other markets and such, we found shopping was better in Innsbruck compared to Munich. Swarovski crystal originated here and so that was also a big shopping draw. Their most recent orb for Christmas is exquisite!
While in Munich, I took a side trip without Jon to Salzburg, Austria. I've always wanted to visit Salzburg ever since I saw the "Sound of Music". Our ...

and with all the surrounding mountains make for great photography.
I have never been up this road or even this neck of the world before so was
not sure what to expect. I had a feeling yesterday I had saw the last of the
mighty big Alpine peaks but how wrong I was.
Soon this road starts making its way up into the mountains and there are
loads of warning signs for snow tyres and icy conditions etc. However that ...

... even though it was mostly closed) and of course Vienna but it was great to also see a couple of smaller towns as well. Munich was wonderful and we will definitely be back to experience the greatness that is Oktoberfest and our time in the Bavaian Alps was wonderful and just the relaxing “do nothing” few days that we needed.

So now we set our sight on Austria’s famously neutral Alpine neighbor, Switzerland!
