... left late & ate up 14 mins. So we only had 2 mins to make the connection. Believe me it was just like in amazing race, as we made the 100 yard dash, at a sprinters pace to make the connection. Marilyn was about 30 yards behind as I got to the train. She was worried that I was going to leave her behind. Would I do that?

... we had a drink at the bar and took our laptop down there where it works a lot better!! Tonight we walked down to what seems like a local social club. Now Berchtesgaden had your typical cobblestones and tyrolean style buildings, but quite frankly it did not do a lot for me. However, as we wandered around, we ran into another farm family hearding the cows right through the square. One of the proprietors of a nearby shop came out with platter of shot glasses (appeared to be Shnapps) and toasted the farmers with ...

Hitler's Eagle's Next

A travel blog entry by judyinocala on Sep 10, 2014

Today we are back in Oberammergau with two choices of activities. One group will enjoy a quiet day exploring Oberammergau, and others will choose to go again to the Austrian border, high up in the mountains, to visit Hitler's Alpen retreat called the Eagle's Nest. The weather threatens to make the trip pointless, but Dave is very interested in World War II and has been looking forward to visiting this place. So he and some others decided to take the chance. ...
