Waiting between our last two planes, we still have one question:How do you end such an overwhelming adventure before getting back to the real world of bills, plumbing problems and work but also friends, family, weekends and summerbars? It is 5:38 pm Italy time... how do I know this???... because our plane has actually landed in Italy. It's a miracle!!! The drive from our hotel is 40 minutes. Along the way I am struck by the beautiful flowering bushes, crazy fast driving and the graffiti. Once we hit about 30 minutes into the drive you start to see the tops of the famous Italian buildings and the quaint shops. The city really bustles to life with everyone vying for parking ...

The next morning we decided we needed to walk the old city in daylight to see the walled town. Where the moat used to be is children's playground, nothing that would pass Canadian safety standards but the kids sure looked like they were having fun. The Schloss was built in 1807 and is still used as a hotel and conference centre.

  • On the drive home we bought some turkish doners for dinner and looked at the native animals in a small grassed area near the turkish shops - the kebabs cost around 4 euro here.

    ... to an italian restaurant he loves called Va Piano on Geotheplatz (Geothe Place). Yum!
    We then went for a drive on the motor way. Really hard to get used to being in the passenger seat on the side I'm used to driving on. Also kept freaking out when we'd turn a corner onto the other she of the road! Then came the free-speed section of the motorway. Fastest we went was 225km/hr, but that's because his car couldn't do more. Fantastic ...
