... oil in them. After draining as much of the oil as possible, I only managed to down about half of my small pizza, leaving the restaurant hungrier than when I entered it. At least I was well lubricated.

After walking around a bit more, Tony and I went for not one but two dinners - to fill the void left by the horrible lunch pizzas. For my first dinner, I ate at the Trio, where we had had a tolerable dinner the night before. While there we got into a conversation with ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India bangkokrandy... fort is the only inhabited fort in the World, and is listed as an endangered monument. Due to the excess capacity of water that it pumps through its plumbing system ( much above its actual capacity) this fort is under constant threat of self destruction.

In the early hours of the day we walked near the fort area where we first saw the Mandir Palace, an intricately decorated palacial building now a ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India somnath... under illuminated hotel signage. The whole thing seemed to lack the romanticism that one would expect from a camel safari. I guess I was hoping for something more adventuresome, sorta Indiana Jonesish, maybe at least setting up your own tent rather than a tented village.

For us Jailsamer the city seemed far more interesting. It was an opportunity to wander through some of the most incredible streets I've ever seen. The ...

Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India anishawasthiAfter a night in a "sleeper" bus which we all agreed to call "bumper bus".. 2 1m90 (6.3 ft?) guys trying to sleep in a little 1.3 sq meter compartment is not easy and if you had David toes almost into my nose and the bus jumping on every single bumps from the road then it becomes really challenging..!! .. we reach the Thar desert, near the Pakistan border, North West of India. The 3 girls, David and I signed up for a 2 day camel safari ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India fredtripI took a trip on a two day camel safari into the Thar desert which was an amazing experience. The camel trek took us through a number of small remote villages that barely scratch a living from the brief period after the monsoons that allow simple crops to be grown in the dry barren earth. Poverty is the way of life here and very few of the people even have shoes to protect them from the sharp rocks or burning desert sands, the begging in ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India jamesburford... up to the fort to take a look around. I didn't want to visit the museum, sure it would be just like the one in Jodhpur so we walked around the fort looking at the old buildings and climbing up onto the walls to look outside. We had a meal in a restaurant on the walls and watched the sun go down. After that we had a lassie in the lassie shop, had a great night.. ask me about it I may tell you. The next day we booked a tour into the desert ...

The shrieks of joy we heard were probably because we had just paid them their equivalent of a king's ransom for their show. The Tilon-ki-Pol is a gate said to have been built by a famous prostitute. When she offered to pay to have the gate built, the ...
