Monterrey

... day.

The surprising part, at least for me, was that I really enjoyed Monterrey. The city itself is interesting, and we explored several free museums and an interesting park. We also went for a nice long walk along a canal (not clear if this was a natural canal made pretty or a man-made canal). The entire length had been made into a park, where they hold concerts, yoga, have boatrides, whatever. There are also ...

First experience in Mexico (outside of Tijuana)

The whole stay here has just been strange. The first morning here I preached in a church - in spanish! First time since 2006! Even though I took out my guages and put in clear spacers, they asked me to take them out, as well as my eyebrow ring. They said I need to be "all things to all men" although that is not what it is talking about. The ministry gave us a nice little apartment for 5 days (full of cockroaches) in a ...

The Journey Begins...

... instead of singing - and off tune to add) the worship songs. I looked to my right and Rob had dissappeared. At the time, I thought he went to the bathroom but really, he was being told all the things he had to change in order to minister - in a back room. He came back about 15 minutes later with huge shriveled holes in his ears where his guages had been. I already started to get bad feelings.
As I try my best to ...

Madness in Monterrey!

... Plenty of Irish ballads and music pumping from the car helped along with Packies singing! We stayed with friends of my uncles' called the Garzas for two nights. They also showed us around the city and surrounding areas, brought us out for dinner and generally gave us an amazing time! We went to the beautiful lake town of Santiago where Ever has a summer house and ...

Monterrey, MX - Week 1 (Arrival)

I left on New Years Day from Nashville, TN at 6:40 am exactly and arrived in Monterrey, MX at 4:15 pm. (Apparently, there are no direct flights from Nashville to Monterrey). The flight there was a little bit grueling. I didn't sleep the night before and had an energy drink, which made sleeping on the plane difficult. Around 1 pm, I landed in Cancun, which is very beautiful and... warm. There I was arriving in a thick coat ...

Grutas de Garcia, and more

Marichu could order food in Spanish, and i in English. it was pretty amazing. we got lost several times trying to find the outlet store. the man at the border asked me if i come through to the states a lot, and walked off with my passport to ask a co-worker ...

Monterrey - Mexico

The road cuota (toll) was ok but expensive. Lots of garbage all around the houses, road everywhere but there were a lots of beautiful mountains to look at too. We left Nuevo Laredo almost 1:00pm and arrived in Monterrey 4:00pm. It wasn't bad at all. In town we found our way to the campground using my "portunhol". The camping was 15 miles south of town, in a little lake bay with the mountains surrounding. Very beautiful. Found our spot inside a resort. It was ...
