    ... own particular story.

    You can imagine the sorts of exhibits these themes might inspire and why I'm so excited to be going. On Matteo's suggestion, Katya, her 14-year-old son, and I will head out bright and early on Sunday morning for the 2-hour drive to Milan, hoping to stay long enough to see the fireworks at the end of the day. I'll probably be recovered enough by Tuesday to tell you how it was in person!

    Well we puddled around in Venice today, literally! It rained all night and was wet this morning with quite gusty winds out in the open - not great sight seeing weather. It was high tide this morning and given we aren't travelling with our gumboots, we had to buy a pair of these charming over boots (see photo).     ... and she just wouldn’t leave us alone until she tampered with my already perfect plan so she deleted this one thinking it was a different one! It was eventually all right but if we couldn’t get on the bus I could have strangled that woman.

    ... the Jews were forced to live in a designated area, where they were actually locked in, within the city each night. Some of the walls still have barb wire along the top.
    They have synagogues there and the buildings are generally taller as so many were forced to live in such a small area and the only way to manage the problem was to expand on top of existing buildings over time.
    The menu's in the restaurants change slightly in this area, including signs for kosher.
