    The next exciting episode began today with our flight from Istanbul to Venice, Italy. I have only ever entered Venice by train and once by bus but that was the Insight tour last year and we had a private water taxi to our hotel on Guidecca.     ... and wee streets. We only scratched the surface where there are little shops stocking beautiful Burano- made lace products, beautiful tablecloths, scarves etc. they also carry Murano glass and a lot of the souvenirs you will find in Venice but not in gypsy type stalls. We had an hour to wander round and shop, was so tempted by a tablecloth and napkins etc, but too expensive to justify, knowing I would barely use it. Did get lovely scarf and Murano pin, and also some ...

    ... is everything..and where cheeky gypsy/Romanians and the like, hawk their fake handbags and have the audacity to yell "Gucci", "Burberry" or "Chloe"' as if!

    Enjoy, it was a feast for the visual senses.
    It was a rare occasion when Phillip wasn't holding his breathe passing shop windows. This girl was "window shopping" and I actually enjoyed every minute of it!

    It seems I have a love/hate relationship with this place.

    I really don't like all the touristy stuff (yes I appreciate the irony) - the crowds and the tourist "merchandise".

    On the other hand, it's a beautiful and unique place, with loads of history and little pockets of peace amongst the chaos.
