... the castle, where I stop for coffee. It's very steep and my legs are feeling it. I carry on and eventually come out at tiny little lakeside town. It's a beautiful (though a bit difficult) walk with magnificent views of the lake from up high. More photos. Back down lakeside, I head back towards Varenna. I stop at Hotel Villa Cipressi for late lunch. Spaghetti with duck ragu and porcini mushrooms. ...

Great food, great service and a nice chat with the owner on the way home was the perfect way to end another great stay in beautiful Bellagio.

... opportunity before jumping back into the car.
We were now heading for Italy and craving for the great coffee at Cafe Sport. The GPS directed us to Varenna and the car ferry. We were hoping like mad that the ferries were in operation. Phew, we only had to wait 20 minutes and a 10 minute ferry trip later we were in Bellagio.
We found our accommodation at Bellagio apartments and meet our host Giulio who was so lovely. He runs a small bar and restaurant close by and as ...

... funicular we wanted to ride. The weather was still on the gray side but stayed dry for our first evening of walking around.

We slept in a bit the next day and, after a short walk around our part of town (drizzling and grayish), we rode the funicular up the mountain to the town above Como where we had lunch and then a short hike. While cloudy, the rain had let up so it was ...
