... let's move on to St Marcos cathedral...here's a shining example of Christianity being built on firm foundations of greed, decadence and oppression. Absolutely awe inspiringly grotesque. Each section has a vast mosaic depicting some scene of misery or angst. Save yourself the $5 admission fee and the half hour wait in line, if you want to see misery and suffering, just walk to the front steps and have a good long stare at the cripples ...
... and walked into the main part of the town. We found a restaurant along the water and had simple pizza and pasta for lunch. Then we walked to our favourite gelati shop at the other end of town and had our fix of icecream. Geoff and I tried a new flavour, Sale de Cervia, basically like a salted chocolate caramel.....seriously good!! ... next to a lovely British lady and had a good chat. The
atmosphere was electric and the setting sublime. Eventually the opera started
and it was such a spectacular. Four acts, 3x 20 mins intervals, a cast over 150
people which included singers, dancers, children and horses and donkeys on
stage. The orchestra and the maestro included about another 100 musicians –
Wow! The stage setting in the arena was the best stage setting ...
... veal with Tuna sauce. Got the bus back and we
actually have Sky news – in English for the first time. Lots of bad news – not
happy with the Israelis – hope Australia is not supporting them!! It was great
to hear from Nanna today.

PS Good news – the Camera has miraculously
started working again – but it is making a strange noise.
