We woke about 7.30am and got ourselves ready. It was great to have a piece of vegemite toast for breakfast! After we were all ready, about 10.30am, we set off for the town of Flim where we decided to get a chairlift up the mountain and walk one of the trails back. The chairlift ticket was about 30 Francs for the four of us to get up to Foppa where we got off. The rain had started to fall but we managed to get to a small little restaurant about 20 minutes down ...

... to the pier for the slow ferry, the sun won its battle to emerge. Much appreciated. Consequently, the ride back was very pleasant, seeing all the villages that were just a blur in the mist on the way up. The slow ferry was scheduled to take 2+3/4 hrs to reach Lezzeno, so plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. Mind you, we also kept one eye on the clouds building up over the mountains.

Drove into Ulm, a lovely "small" city. Walked around the Ulm Munster - amazing Gothic cathedral with the tallest spire in the world (161 metres) and then had a look inside. Plain and poorly lit but still impressive, with lots of "crests" on the walls. Sat in the square after admiring the beautifully decorated Rathaus, built 1377-1877. This was also the birthplace of Albert Einstein, although he left as an infant. Missed seeing "his" fountain. Drove to Friedrichshaven, ...
