... folds of the valley called Crotto del Fuin, where we enjoyed platters of assorted meats (salami, prosciutto, bresaola etc.). The last stop of the day was at another small town called Chiavenna, to visit Marina’s aunt Irene.

After heading back to Morbegno we returned to Marcello & Donatella’s place for a meal of polenta and sausages, accompanied by Lisa & Davide and followed by copious amounts of Limoncello before retiring with full bellies ...

... do some price checking and... am confused to find the a very large "family size" can of raviolli costs less than a smaller can! I guess I'll be eating a lot of raviolli these next two days. I do find a can opener as well, luckily.

Daylight will fade soon, so I pick up the pace, hoping ot make it to Campodolcino before nightfall, where hopefully I can find ...

I'm hoping that that's only because when Google Maps comes across a tunnel, they automatically assume that pedestrians aren't allowed through it. Hoping... But doing a little research I found that there's supposed to be a hiking trail up towards the pass. That would be perfect... if I can find it! I follow a rather pedestrian ...

... the last I will see of agriculture for a while. From now on it will just be rugged mountains. Also from now on food is probably going to get a lot more expensive. So I figure I'll go ahead and eat a Turkish doner before heading up the mountain. The fellow looks Middle Eastern, but I see images of saints on the the walls--so I figure he's probably an Egyptian Copt... I decide to ask him. We get to talking and it's clear that his mind is not ...
