... majority of the towns, there was barely a hotel open. Many of the hotels obviously hadn't been open for a while, inspite of their advertising along the road. Where there was the odd hotel open, the town struggled to have an eatery that might be open in the evening.
While not getting desperate, were quite relieved when we discovered Hotel dei Bizantini, just outside Campo dei Messapi.
Into Lecce in inclement weather....out with the trusty umbrella. Needed an ATM urgently, as our 50 sontimes was insufficient for the parking attendant, who wanted payment in advance! Once that detail had been taken care of, repaired to a suitable cafe for coffee, chosen for the incredible looking bruschetta that other patrons were eating. A good choice. ... is manu's birthday tomorrow, we had a few ideas up our sleeves for her. We decided to write a version of the backstreet boys - I want it that way - but revamp the lyrics into birthday ones. During manu's sleepy time, we ran to our van and recorded it with costumes on in the van.
