    After breakfast, we moved to Ficuzza in an old tramway station in the middle of nowhere we thought. Only activity for today was relax and get ready for tomorrow which is the last bike etappe of our biking tour. Read in the local news here that there has been advice for many cities in Italy to avoid hard work even for younger people due to the heat.

    ... with the choice to go further up and being wrong, or returning on our tracks we decided to go back. Amazing how much we had climbed, it took us quite some time going down the hill again.
    We then continued route B in the heat - we are talking here around 35 degrees in the shadow, over 40 in the sun but hardly any place with shadow. We got happy when there was a cloud over the sun to give us some shadow. Strange how your habits change in ...

    ... it is not what you want to have, especially not when you are biking. On the bike, you simply see the sweat evaporating from your arms.
    Anyway, it was an interesting day, with a nice ending at the beach in preparation for the big trip of tomorrow! Two times a climb of approx 500 metres over 20 km each. We will see, it might be a walking day tomorrow....

    Today we went to Castellammare del Golfo by the coach, which dropped us off at the top of the town. Gilberto had arranged a lift for me and my wheelchair but it was a very small car so only me and my wheelchair no Neil! It is also described as the most beautiful ancient city as it is situated up high on a cliff, overlooking the sea and surrounded by golden beaches.
