Today was hot..35.5 We first went to the Cathar fortress of Montsegur. The fortress fell after a siege that lasted from the summer of 1243 to March 1244. (See photo for more info). Then Foix for lunch at a pub. Followed by 8min out of Foix to Europe's longest navigational underground river, Labouiche. It was 13deg in the tunnel but on this hot day, it was perfect. I was expecting a quaint little market set up for this quaint little town... On arriving into the town, we couldn't believe how many cars were around & that it was almost impossible to find a carpark. This was the most extravagant markets I've ever seen. It was huge!!! We awoke to bright sunshine and had a leisurely breakfast. The area that we are in is well known for it’s wine but it is “Oaky” - something that neither of us like in either reds or whites.
