I started the day with a breakfast at the camping at 7am, as I forgot to think about where the sun would rise, and sure thing it had turned my tent into a sauna by 6:45. So today was supposed to be the star of the real biking fun, left the Czech Republic and headed into the mountains in Slovakia, the rain has reduced a little but now I'm on the twisties it is still a real pain...I've given up on my plan to ride East through Slovakia, I'm now heading South into Hungary and away from the rain ...
What a beautiful country!
Mountains, and more mountains, and wood and trees, and so much beauty all around. We walked around one of the villages that had been restored totally to the Baroque style of architecture.
Slovaks become part of Hungary for 1000 years.
1918 Czechoslovakia, country created where the Czechs and Slovaks joined up to break free from Hungary. The USA played a leading role in putting these two kingdoms together.
... Of course there was lots of wine, beer and Prosecco.
On the way back to our hotel, we stopped in the UNESCO heritage village of Cicmany with its unique painted houses. Valerie and Dan took a picture of themselves standing in front of a house where her parents were photographed 50 years ago.
