Maybe we are spoilt living, as we do, in the midst of some of the best biking roads in Europe. The Transalpina might be OK once they finally finish it but by Alpine standards it can only ever be seen as average at best. ... house (where Vlad Tepes was born) and then we went out for a few drinks in the old town with Emil where Mike decided we should all try a drink called Unicum which tastes like a sort of peppermint Jaegermeister and is served by the glass rather than in shot form. It is traditionally the herbal remedy that a St. Bernard would bring you when it was rescuing you in the mountains. It is truly awful. We did however have a great night with Emil learning what it was like to grow up in ...

... going! Apparently this poor little man, with minimal English, works in collaboration with the hostels to help people board the right bus, since otherwise we lowly travelers have not a clue what to do. He stuck me on the right bus, talked to the driver about my destination, then left, searching for his next victim. The bus whisked me and many others through the town of Brasov (pronounced Brashoff) and I saw its many sides. Wearing facades, ...
