A little about Kusadasi, Turkey

From the port of Kusadasi on Turkey's Anatolian Coast, one travels into the past. Nearby stand the ruins of ancient Ephesus, a major site of archeological excavation. The city was once a Roman provincial capital and trading center. Ephesus is also home to several of Christendom's holiest sites. St. Paul preached at the Great Theater and the ruins of Ephesus' Basilica cover the tomb of Christ's most beloved disciple, St. John the Apostle.

... Konak hotel in time for some more sightseeing in the capital. Whilst on the subject of recommendations I cannot speak highly enough of the Sari Konak. Slap bang in the middle of Sultanahment, the major tourist mecca, I would recommend it to all our friends. We had a late lunch (plate of chips) and headed for Topkapi Palace. An early morning leaving got us to Ephesus by 8:30 with very few other tourists. Entering the upper gat, we walked down through the town. It turned out to be a magnificent walk. The top of the town was crowned by an odeon leading to the agora via entry arches. The old road has been uncovered and is original. Along the way, the temple, fountain and latrine is passed.
