... was also recommended to us from one of the men in the trekking group ahead, so we thought we'd give it a bash. We ordered green apple curry, made from famous Cashmiri apples. It was a really weird tasting dish, quite sour with the spicy and aromatic flavours of the curry coming through too. We complimented this dish with a safer mutton rogan josh (red colored curry), which was delicious. And of course, predictably assisted our digestion post the meal with some Kewar Cashmiri tea. ...

The chef was not what one would imagine, somewhat grubby.

... ie 4am! The real Kashmir experience was staying at one of the characteristic houseboats by the lake. They are numerous, some are located on Dal lake, others on Nagin lake, further north. It is hard to chose. We decided on Nagin lake for the relaxed atmosphere and sorroundings, searched the internet and found a good review of a houseboat called Mount View.
