... the city to see except for the temple so saw what I wanted to see in one day. Got to taste the Soba noodles ( made from Buckwheat) but didn't try my hand at making them. Nagano is "famous" for Soba noodles - well it is a local speciality.

... and the colder temperatures in the mountains, the cherry trees were just blooming. It was really beautiful. Then we went to lunch.

After lunch we visited a 400 year old Zasso-Sikuri house. The family of 48 people all lived on the first floor. There was a wooden ladder to the second floor where they used to raise silk worms. They no longer do that.

... everything else was closed and the buildings weren't so very pretty. Still, we felt proud of ourselves for successfully negotiating the metro system.

The hotel's Japanese restaurant was full, so 3 of us, single ladies, had a very indifferent meal in their Chinese restaurant. Those who managed to get into the Japanese restaurant had an excellent, but at 80 each, a very pricy supper. At least ours didn't cost much.
