... 3 hours ever in our journey. There is some kid of ocean wave activity going on the the boat was rockin back and forth, side to side like wild. At breakfast time, the boat is already rocking like you won´t believe. I felt sick when the crew lay out the breakfast on the table. Feeling extremely sick,I only drank some juice and just sat and watch everyone wolf down the food while the platter shift from one side of the table to another. After ...
... had sold too many tickets and there was a big argument which culminated in one guy having to leave. We then started chugging out of the harbour... only to return to the dock. An official-looking man in uniform counted the number of passengers and said there were still too many and the boat couldn't leave. After some more discussion the guy who had previously been told to get off reboarded and we were free to leave... there's a lesson in Ecuadorian health and safety. The ride itself was ...
Galapagos Islands, Galápagos, Ecuador lisa.gillespie... later in WWII, meant a massive depletion in numbers, as they just picked up these massive beasts, and put them on their ships for fresh meat (they can live for up to a whole year with no food or water!). Numbers decreased from an estimated 300,000 to only 20,000 by the time their evolutionary importance was recognised. Thanks to the amazing work done by the Charles Darwin Foundation and other groups there, 11 of the 14 species have ...

Day 7:
This morning was another day of kayaking, although these were the kind of kayaks you sit on top of, and Gabe and I found them easier to maneuver. Getting out of the little cove though proved challenging, as it was low tide and lower than our guide had ever seen it. There were rocks everywhere and everyone was periodically getting stranded atop rocks, making for very ...
... to relax in the shade or enjoy the sun during the cruise. We flew in to the galapagos on Wednesday after a 5am start - we had someone pick us up from the hotel and guide us through the busyness of quito airport - she was worth her weight in gold - nearly. I had a stressful Wednesday - apologies to tracey - i was a jerk. Sorry. Met the boat and crew and fellow passengers. What a foreign place this galapagos is - we have got into shorts at last - it is quite hot - this ...

... had to offer. What ever we saw on land was matched by what we saw in the water. In the space of a week we had swum with stingrays, huge sea turtles, sea lions, fur seals, penguins and a school of reef sharks! It is a very special feeling being in the water as sea lions play with you, darting next to you and finishing inches away from your snorkel mask, it is a slightly scarier proposition if a 2 meter shark does the same!

... our first sunset - with unobscured horizons against the ocean whilst sipping beer and chatting with our touring friends.
Day 3 - Espanola island. Our morning was dominated by a sea lion 'colony' on the beach, where we encountered sea-lions in all shapes and sizes. Most commonly they all had a penchant for lazy dozing on the beach, and their rolling around, scratching and lapping up of the shoring waters provided us with ample amusement! We'd brought ...
