    We woke from our kind of sleep to stunning views from the windows as the train neared Villach and the Austrian Alps. We had realised that we were close to the Rosental valley, so decided that we should have a quick explore before finding a campsite with the aim of finding some tacky Rosental souvenir.     ... friends and enjoy a little beach time.

    Just got the news that my niece in Italy had her baby today, so lots of celebrations going on. We're planning to return to Germany and Austria next year, and a side trip to Italy will be in order. We're hoping to get a longer visa for me next March from the German Consulate, so we won't run up against the problem again.

    I was back by 3 pm, took a shower and fell asleep on my fed for about an hour. I think tomorrow I will feel every part of my legs! Still, it was fun!

    Spectacular mountain views from the top of the Reisseckbahn. First take a three stage cable driven trains up an incredibly steep slope following a hydroelectric dam pipeline, then a tiny train through a tunnel under the mountain. Lots of walks and restaurants at the top. Remnants of melting snow left here and there in hot sunny ...

    ... we luckily spotted another layby area we could park in. The car park was at a really steep angle so when we parked Sven we were all terrified it would topple over as we all pilled out (but it didn't). It did however still smell very funny as trying to get into this parking space had been a nightmare as had to reverse backwards up the steep hill (with Paul and his 'not with it' instructions) and in my panic forgot to take the hand break off - oops).
