... area and when I looked up again, there on the opposite side of the river bank was a croc sunning himself, with his mouth wide open waiting for prey to sit in it. He remained there until we left a while later, slightly deflated we hadnt seen a bull shark.

After passing out at 7pm the night before with a belly full of pasta, Al and I set off again, not to thrilled that we had to hike back the same way especially as you dont really see anything different. Still it had to be ...
Puerto Jimenez, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica mardow... trails. so i hiked to many waterfalls and almost fell climbing one. well i did fall but i caught a vine and swung to this other rock and then continued to climb. i followed the river pretty far until i couldnt follow it anymore so i headed back. this time skipping boleto and just following the river. there i met this guy named pina. he was panning for gold. so i asked him if he needed any help. i panned with him for about an hour collecting some ...
Golfito, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica crtravel... hotels, restaurants, bars (although not exactly busy!) and Internet centres, as well as a number of tour company offices who can organise hiking treks and other tours for you. We booked ourselves in to Hotel Oro Verde in the centre of town. For $15 a night we were impressed; a large room, with comfortable beds, a decent bathroom, and even a TV!
Puerto Jiménez, Puntarenas, Costa Rica matt.s.wise... to hike about 16 km to La Sirena, probably arriving before sundown givent the time you'll stop to look at animals. From Sirena we spent the next two days and nights hiking nearby trails. We woke up early in the mornings to howler monkeys, we about (the best time for sighting animals in action) and returned midday for lunch before returning to the forest in the evening. Our most favorite trails were those located near streams or rivers. The fourth day found us hiking ...
Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica cweigandWell the countdown is on. My departure date from the US is 01 February, and the actual sailing date is dawn on 05 February. If the mold, the bleach fumes, and the 3M 5200 Marine sealant fumes from the past few days of boat work hasn't permanently damaged my brain, that leaves 16 full days to finish all I need to do to be gone for the next 18 or 19 months. OK- so I plan on coming back in mid-July for two weddings, and again in November to wait ...
Golfito, Costa Rica wmdkimLeft Fran and Barry's at about 8am. Drove through a part of San Jose and followed the Pan American Hwy until we came to a road block about 40kms out of the city. The policeman advised us that the road ahead was washed out and we had 2 options to get around it. We decided to take the shorter route which was about 12km and the other choice was 40km. When we turned on to this road it was ...
Golfito, Costa Rica guruzers... little town called cahuita. its super chill and pretty tiny, and there was a national park on one side of our hostel and a black sand beach on the other. we ended up staying there for only a couple of days, and now we are in puerto viejo, which is a little bit bigger and has more things to do. yesterday we rented bikes and made our way to a beach about 2 hours away, and that was my work out for the day!! but it was really nice, and the water was perfect!!
Puerto viejo, Costa Rica maiamuffin... science and the hypothesis based paper that we had to produce for the course. It was extremely frustrating and in the end not very successful, which isn't to say that we didn't learn a lot, but noone ended up happy. The project was cool though. We collected lots of shells that washed up on a beach, and then tried to diagnose how they died, and relate that to the habitat in which they lived and to the shape of the shells. La Selva - La Selva is ...
Golfito, Costa Rica sebchant... I was looking for the waterfall. He spoke bat AT me for a while (for all I knew he was telling me that the NASDAQ was down 40 points today) but what I got was that it was 5 minutes as he pointed through his property and to the back. Amazingly we were in the middle of nowhere and he had a satellite dish on top of his shack. Anyway I walked on. There was this weird noise and I soon saw random water bursts in the middle of the forrest - sort of ...
