Veintimilla 464 y Luis Tamayo, Quito, Ecuador
We returned to a rainy Quito on Monday afternoon, instead of going to the Basílica del Voto National I stayed with the group to enjoy a last meal together. We went to an all you can eat and drink Tapas and Wine Bar for dinner and many of us had a bit too much to drink that night. The next day we had organized a private tour that brought us to Ba...
A travel blog entry from Quito by kenthoiBad luck tends to cluster together. My PDA mini SD card died after I arrived at Quito. There went my English-Spanish and English-Porteguese talking dictionary and phasebook. Gone also are the maps that I scaned. I am sure the trip can´t get much worse. I arrived at Quito in the afternoon and made my way to Sierra Madre the joining hotel for the ...
A travel blog entry from Quito by kenthoiDay 1 Getting on the plane and leaving San Diego was rather uneventful, despite my 6:20 AM flight and not getting any sleep the night before as I frantically packed and ensured nothing was amiss. I flew on American Airlines with stop-overs in Dallas and Miami before arriving to my final destination of Quito, the capital city of Ecuador high up i...
A travel blog entry from Quito by rskopekMy most enjoyable time here in South America has finally come to an end, none the less, I know that even better times await me on my next leg of the journey. A travel blog entry from Quito by samira_steveEntry 16 of a trip titled: Going Solo to South America - Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador
Shortly after starting my new job, we began planning this trip to South America. We both had places we wanted to see and that's why the trip ended up being as long as it was. I wanted to see the Nazca Lines and we both wanted to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Piccchu, go to Lake Titicaca, go to Ecuador - she to the Otavalo market and I to the middle of the world. I spent months planning our itinerary, researching airfares and hotels, and emailing tour operators. Five weeks before departure, my traveling partner backed out on me - too late to cancel the trip without incurring huge penalties. I decided to go on by myself. Two weeks before departure, I took a self defense class - for my mom's sake as well as my own. The adventure begins!
