We went to the train station about 20 minutes early. We had to get some lunch for the long trip to Aomori. We will transfer to another train to go to Hakodate in Hokkaido. The sky was still blue when we walked to the station but for those who left it just a few minutes later, the heavens had opened up. Takako was a bit drenched when she arrived.

We get our fabulous night shots and decide to get down the mountain before the rush. As it was we were jammed into the carriage like ...

We saw impressive loads of seefood, rogues, fish, shells, and things we don't know what they are. You could even eat there, but we have had breakfast at the hotel

... in low cloud all day and it has been very windy. I got a good day, and night, to go up.
Spent Tuesday wandering the city. Hakodate was one of Japans first ports to open itself to international trade (about 1854 ) and there is quite a bit of international influence in some of the older buildings (the ones that didn't get destroyed in the 1907 fire). Nothing spectacular but interesting. ( old English Consulate building, Old Public ...
