We went back to the hotel by about 9pm and had a nice long shower and soak in the bath. It took a while to figure out how to fill the bath up as there are no taps or spout. Everything is run by a control panel. It would only fill the tub a bit at a time. Not sure what I was doing there but had to keep going back to press a button. In the end, it did know when to shut down. Even the bath is computerised. What ...

The train from Kanita to Hakodate takes you under the Tsugaru Strait ( the bit of water between the island of Honshu and the island of Hokkaido)
So for all you people with a statistical bent:
the tunnel is 53.85 km long. It is underground on the Honsu side for 13.55 km, then under the strait for 23.3 km, then underground on the Hokkaido side for 17km.
At the deepest point it is 240 meters deep ( the sea is 140 meters deep and ...
