... music. We eventually rejoined the highway, which brought us through more woods and then into farmland. We passed small towns, then a few cities. We hit some slowdowns, and some road work. We hit another rest stop with the funny self-cleaning toilets, but my attempt to video it failed. (And this time it gave me correct change!). There are large wind turbines in the country, though not too many in any given place, and some fields with solar panels. ...

... and our Mazda hatchback and took to the roads. I got to drive the autobahn. So 120 km per hour isn't that fast, I topped 150, and decided that was fast enough. But holy moly cars were speeding around me like I was sitting still! We made it to Rotenburg o.d.T. easy. Finding our hotel inside was a chore. More later. Time to get out and see ...

... Had a typically German meal with beer of course.

Spent the next morning slowly meandering through the old town and stopping for schneeballe (sweet pastry balls) and bratwurst rolls. I got totally carried away taking photos!

... painted houses - the boys kept singing the Welcome to Duloc song off Shrek as that's what the town looks like. We had a look round the shops and of course had to buy some Christmas decorations from the original german Christmas Shop. Again had lots of tasty german food, walked in the park and along the city walls. Final stop Belgium ...

... I have an Audi or a BMW or a Mercedes or a Ferrari or a Porsche up my tail-pipe so I make it my business to speed up a bit to find a spot where I can slide into the slow lane until they pass.

But more often than not, they would pull into the left fast lane to go by. Now, there are other cars that seem to live in the fast lane. When I did decide to speed up in the middle lane to say, 130kms, I had cars pass me on the left ...
