A very international christmas!

... the living room. We put Eloise to bed after rearranging occupants, all other beds had been snapped up already so we were left with a concrete floor and small blanket against a heater.

Many people were still in bed when we packed up, said our goodbyes and left early the following afternoon, very conveniently but unplanned we were going to miss the cleanup. Travelling to Dusseldorf by train ready for part 2 of our journey in Scotland!

Having out lasted our desi driver the night before, we had stayed at Chads. Starbucks coffee and a dirty feed for brunch at Rockers on base got us started for the day. The serving sizes here are ENORMOUS, condiments galore, all carried out on huge trays to deliver to the tables. I guess it is to be expected, given their career choice to serve their country, but these guys sure are 'American'. Thick accents, packing dip and intense degree of patriotism. ... was Temmens birthday so after a feed in Landstuhl at one of the many American tailored take away joints we met at a local Sheisha bar for a couple of quiet drinks, meeting a few others from the Squadron. It was a pretty low key night just making quick stops at a local bar or two before heading back.

... The local bank, still being open informed us that we were in the next village about 3km away, new to Germany we decided to try walk haha at the edge of town we found a very dark un-pathed road! That wasn't happening.

... towards Germany pretty much through dense fog for the most of the morning. Passing some factories here and there it was mostly small farms and rural cottages dotting the flat, flat, did I say flat? landscape. We eventually crossed into Germany but the European Union had decided awhile ago to make it easier for travel between countries so there are no more border crossings – ie. No stamps for my passports.
