... early-morning walks have been the go-to thearpy.
Every morning this past week, Dante and I have arisen a little earlier than usual to walk down the street to the bike path, where our morning walk commences. Normally, the fog blankets the sun in an attempt to lull it back to sleep, hindering me from knowing if it's 7 or 10 in ...
Here are the promised photos. I am not including photos of our workshop room and wine cellar; they're not that interesting. Excuse the messiness of parts of the house. You all know how trying moving in can be!
Tracy has left for France to inspect food production plants, so I'm here ...
... lease we decide to move on to another option that Tracy's German secretary had told her about - a converted country house from the 19th century. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my memory card with me today so that I could upload the photos I've taken. Those will come tomorrow of the next day. For now, I have only four photos for you, each taken at our house.
Yesterday morning I baked a homemade blueberry pie (with ...
Tracy and I are going to buy some gorgeous pieces of furniture during the next three years. Of that we are almost certain. It pains us now to see so many beautifully crafted antiques (book shelves, schrunks (armories), desks, tables, etc.) and know that they're out of our reach for now. The pieces you see pictured here were all somewhere between $1,300-$3,000, but honestly worth every penny.
This morning Tracy and I met DeAnna and Andrew at a bazaar near Ramstein AFB ...
Meet Henry, my Mercedes-Benz. He's an odd fellow; nice enough, if a little cranky; advanced in years. We don't communicate so well yet, even if we are both obviously making efforts. It's that I can't always read his signs clearly. He lags when I want to move quickly, and when I want to play it safe, he jumps. I never know which button to press to get the reaction I want, and sometime he acts confused. For now, I'm chalking it up to generational and ...
... I checked my watch - it has taken about three hours to get there, but should have been two had I known where I was in Ramstein. I contacted Alex and we went to his house. Most of it was still in boxes, such as his kitchen and loungeroom. The only room that had taken any shape was his bedroom where he slept. I made my abode in the loungeroom and I stayed with Alex for five days. During my stay in K-Town I just hung out and relaxed to recover from my sore back and general ...
Kaiserslautern, Germany amullett... and not think about slitting your own wrists because of her voice. So after this five day period, which, I was invited out to the local night club by Alex's sister. She is surely crazy, but knows how to have a good time. We went out for cocktails to this bar, but when we got there, it turns out that they weren't doing any, so we ordered beer and champagne. The waitress was a bit of a 'tard and she managed to drop about five beers in front of us off ...
Kaiserslautern, Germany amullett... a few of the towns. We hoped to find the talented Burt Bachrach in the town of the same name, but it was not to be. We had lunch in Koblenz, which is at the junction of the Rhine and the Mosel (where we spent our Easter trip). It was great to see the grapes on the vines, as the vineyards had been bare in April. All in all a fantastic trip, even taking into account the outcome of the game. If anyone wants to book for South Africa 2010 let me know.
Kaiserslautern, Germany the_mcdonoughsHere was the controversial end to Australia's fantastic world cup run - if it wasn't aus going through to the final at least Italy had a chance. Stayed at a farm where horses were bred for showjumping. Zapped myself and Maya on the electric fence while she was sucking on some metal keys!! Hopefully no lasting damage! Travelled up to Mainz and went on a boat ride down the romantic ...
