... when Mike decided it was time to test the dry-suit. It apparently worked because after getting back on his kayak, we completed a 4+ hour paddle.
The fall colors we absolutely brilliant! And the wispy white clouds in the perfectly blue skies made it even better.
Normally the bright yellow and orange kayaks would ...
... but everything is encased in ice and wind whipped snow. The frosty covering on some items has almost a feather like look.
As I finished up my snowshoeing hike I headed home back down the snow road. ....but I was SO TIRED I ended up taking a nap in the car :o) That was one tough hike today! I'll sleep well ...
Woke-up to 6" of fresh snow and a beautiful sunny sky! So, after a little snow shoveling I headed out for the Towada Winter Festival.
......lesson #284 for living in Misawa......snow comes in "bands", so if it's been snowing and the sky is now sunny.....it will probably be snowing again :o)

Back near the trailhead is a natural thermal hot springs Onsan (Japanese community hot bath). I didn't indulge this go, but definitely can see it in my future :o) We stopped at the Onsan/Hotel/restaurant for potty break.
It was also fun watching the workers shovel snow off the roof.
Decided to get away on the first day of the 4-day Christmas weekend and it was a PERFECT day for a snowshoe trip in the Hakkoda mountains.
