I had hope to get one more mountain top hike in before the winter snows arrived, but the higher I got, the wetter the conditions. I was surprised to see that they had already had to plow Route 103. This route will close in the next few weeks and will not reopen until they plow it in later March. The road will be buried under 10-20 feet ...

... 6 miles from one end to the other. You have to have a full day to do it all and it's best to start REALLY early so you can get alot of it hiked before the Japanese tour groups arrive and create roadblocks as they hike together in groups of up to 30 people. ...the Japanese are very much a rule following society, so they all follow their tour ...

... grow some pretty big apples here and the cost matches the size. Most of the apples in the photo are larger than a softball and cost $3.25 each. ...but they are larger enough to be a meal :o) ...I buy my apples in a non-tourist area where I can get 6 apples for 300 Yen (~$4). ...shop where the locals shop!

... up was easier than coming back down. After hiking all three peaks, I realized I really should have gone back for my water. Oh well, too late at this point! ....lesson learned :o)

Finally made it back to my vehicle.....rehydrated, each some snacks and realized I was TIRED!! As I drove home, I decided to reward myself with a "Lawson's" ...
