We finally boarded the Shinkansen Bullet train and it is awesome! These trains are really first class. It seems like you are on an airplane inside, but it's a train. And it's such a smooth ride. We think it's very fancy! We arrived in Nagasaki which is on the island / part of Japan-of Kyushu. It is the southern most part of Japan. It is surrounded three parts by mountains and one part by sea. What's so interesting here is that on ...

It made for a really good visit and the sunshine helped, ...

We arrived in Kumamoto yesterday after yet another comfortable bus ride. Really nice views, and at one stage we had the coast on the left hand side, with mountains on the right side. This changed as we moved into the interior, and it was mountains all the way, with quite a few tunnels, then small areas of flat fields, lots of hothouses, but not sure what was being grown.

We arrived in Kumamoto around midday and, after settling into our hotel, we headed for ...

... is in an enormous shopping centre which I ignore for the moment intent on getting in. I have googled translated what I'm going to say to the ticket people so I'm confident it will work. Nope. With Japanese helpfulness also comes Japanese follow rules at all times and there is no bargaining with the ticket women. I even show her pictures of Dakota with the cats (sorry I know exploiting babies is wrong). I think she might give in for a moment and she ...
