My first Travel Story

... So after taking some pictures and langar we moved for Kiratpur Sahib, 10 KM from Anandpur sahib, then again i heard some noises from my bike chain which were going loud n loud on every KM. The road was one way type, but the other part of the road was under construction thats why all the traffic was moving one side of the road, after 3 km we saw one accident of a santro who was crushed by a truck (we came to know later that whole family ...

wedding day

Today was the day of the wedding and I was looking forward to seeing what it would be like. It started with brunch at a nice resort where a band were playing drums and bagpipes. We then went to the local Gurdwara (Sikh church) where the half hour ceremony took place. The vowels were read from a book which seemed a little impersonal for a wedding, but that's probs just me. I ...

Bom filme pra vc!

The dreaded throat infection strikes again!

... my Powerbook, the guy who plays Nagojey in our Pind gave them to me. The sound quality is quite bad but its good enough for me to learn from, when I eventually get around to it! I fell asleep whist doing the first record and came around at 2.30pm. I had a call from the travel agent and she said that I would have to fax a copy of my confirmation to Delhi because it didn't come out clear enough on her machine, so another trip to Nakodar followed, and ...

Too hot to do anything or go anywhere!

... so I just put the fans on full blast and sat down with my Powerbook. I started to put together the DVD of Nachda Sansaar at Rangla Punjab, it's nearly 6 weeks since the event itself but that's still pretty good going for me! We had planned a trip to Waterworld (the new water park at Wonderland) at 4pm, but it was still to hot so we gave it a miss. That gave me a chance to complete the DVD's, I made a few copies to send back home. At 6pm Soma and ...

Licked down with illness again!

... showed him around it. Parth was kind enough to gift me a wristband, it's the Rajasthani way (Ajay did the same in Jaipur). My health deteriorated during the course of the afternoon, so I came back to Basti around 4.30pm. I crashed out for a couple of hours. I got up at 6pm when I heard someone playing the Dhol outside. I had arranged to take auntie to the hospital to get her eye's checked out. We got there around 6.30pm to find the department was closed, well it was pretty late I guess ...

Bhagsu to Nawa Pind, in one day!

... This is a place of worship for Hindus, we stopped here and went up to pray, there were a few steps to climb but nowhere near as many as Naina Devi. We didn't stop there long and were on the road in an hour or so. We got back into Punjab around 4pm and soon after back onto flat roads! I made the most of the flat roads, standing up for a while to dry my shorts, then I got a bit carried away and started doing the whole 'look no hands' thing. No I didn't come off! I must say my bike ...

Darshan Uncle comes home.

... these turns every now and then. She was saying I shouldn't have to wash my own clothes, but then I told her that what I've been doing ever since I left home. Gagan came over around midday and we just chilled most of the afternoon. He was going through the collection of Bhangra music on my Powerbook, I have amassed quite a collection over the last week or so (courtesy of Ajee and Danny), it's well over 72 albums worth. We were supposed to have a new cupboard delivered to ...

Chilling in the Mountains - and stuck here?

... Large sections of road (the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route) have washed away. Poor village farmers, having reached harvest time, are now completely cut off from their markets. In Nako, a town along the route, 15 foreigners are stranded: bottled water has run out, as has kerosene to boil local water, and apparently their health is "shaky". I feel so bad for those poor village folk in the valleys, and disappointed as I am to miss out on that route, I'm ...
