During the war, Isamu was set to a concentration camp.
After the war, he submitted his design for the Hiroshima Dome Museum, but his work was denied because he was "American".
One side he was accused to be Japanese, and the other side he was denied because he was American. I can only imagine how he was thinking of his own identity.

... or noodle soup. The ramen we had here was delicious but we were so tired after our long journey we headed back to the hostel, Ino`s Place, this place is worth a mention , it is one of the best hostels we have stayed at during our visit to Japan. The owner is very friendly and ready to help, they have all services that a traveller could want available here even a kitchen, which is where we prepared our lunch for the long ...
Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan jon-daniellaWe're in Sapporo now and it's absolutely amazing. However the hostel is charging ten yen per freaking minute to use the internet - which adds up to roughly $10 AUD an hour. So there won't be any further posts until we reach Tokyo again in another three days.
Missing you all,
Tom and Rachael

However the highlight was watching a Japanese 'boy band' perform wearing puffer jackets & executing some killer dance moves. In fact, I only have video footage of two things on the whole trip: Will in his jumping joey... and the boy band! Boy bands ...
Sapporo, Japan bhaebich... beers were so good, and they changed Mike's and my perceptions of foreign beers. Notably KAITAKUSHI tasted somewhat fruity and YEBISU BLACK (with its roasted malt) tasted a bit like coffee. It was cheap (¥200 for 1.5 pot or ¥400 for 3). Mike and I only had 4 since we weren't going to pay for too many (later that night we would be having an all you can eat and drink meal at the beer garden). After the beers we noticed in passing an Australia wine (Yellowtail) in a display ...
Sapporo, Japan bonkuraazu... Park. In Sapporo, I paid a visit to not only the festival venue, but also Old Government Building, the Clock Tower and Sapporo Olympic Games venue. I also visited a glass-making factory in Otaru. I went there with my uncle and aunt and it was the first and last time to travel with them.
