Singapore Slung

A travel blog entry by andyeaton

I woke up on the alarm Sunday morning a beautiful sunny morning in Singapore; I opened the curtains and looked out over the skyline as the sun rose up in the East. My usual gym routine was a bit disturbed by the weekend and a little hangover but off I went all the same, I had broken my headphones in Beijing so was struggling for musical …

Flying through Singapore

A travel blog entry by aanchalandhiral

Spent 2 days in Singapore which I think was more than enough. I have to admit we are exhausted! We walked around Little India which was ironic since we will be in India within 24 hours. We took a ride on the Singapore Flyer which had pretty good views, but I actually liked their little museum better. They even offer a 5 course dinner in the cabins …

Exploring the City

A travel blog entry by loviesquared

After a short rest in a comfortable and highly air-conditioned room at the Sheraton Towers we were up and ready to explore the city. The Sheraton Towers hotel is situated next to the Newton MRT station so it was easy to jump on the metro. Singapore is a city of 5 million people and apparently they all ride the metro. When the train arrived at the …

Day One: We're Here.

A travel blog entry by barbarakidd

A body slam, to say the least, we survived the long flight over. I had forgotten that the direct flight on Singapore Airlines from LAX results in a 5:30 am arrival time. That's great for businessmen who want to get a jump start on the day, but it's not so great for those who want to check into their hotel. As always, the Sheraton Towers was …

Hawker Stalls, White Tigers, Red Lights

A travel blog entry by allisonandjeff

In case we led anyone to believe otherwise in our last post, our trip didn't end in Indonesia. Next up was a short visit to Singapore, where we had been told to expect an interesting mix of cultures, a corresponding selection of amazing food, and the efficiencies-if not the sterility-of a tightly controlled developed nation.

We also had …

    Comfortable Oasis

The Singapore Towers hotel is a great location in Singapore. It is far enough away from some of the busiest parts of town yet easy to get to and from. It is right next to the Newton MRT station. The hotel staff were some of the friendliest I have every encountered. Room was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

    Comfortable and Friendly

Our stay at the Sheraton Towers was a great choice for us. As active Starwood members, we have stayed in many properties around the world. The towers have an excellent club lounge, good work out facilities, and decent rooms. The hotel is certainly not the best or fanciest (check out the St. Regis!) in Singapore, but we felt very comfortable and satisfied. The service staff was extremely helpful and the location is close to Orchard Road. Whenever we are in Singapore, we always stay here.

Location is perfect close to the Orchard Road and Newton dining area (which will be disappear in a few months people said).

Rooms are very clean, wel equipped.

Swimming pool is large and very friendly and nice atmosphere.

Breakfast is great and fresh juices!!!!

Staff is helpfull and very nice, they like their job it seems.

Allthough there was made a mistake with the reservation by the hotel, our stay was great and very pleaserable.

    Excellent business centre.

One of the best business hotels

This hotel is nicely situated on the quiet side of Scotts Road. The hotel's location is a mere 6-minute walk from the Orchard Road shopping strip, about 150 steps to the underground Newton subway station, and across the street from the Newton Circus Food Centre (outdoor eating). Although the hotel doesn't have much green space, it does have a very large Koi pond, complete with a 20 foot waterfall, which can be viewed from the main dining room. The hotel also has a very attractive, outdoor pool and its surrounding area is pleasantly landscaped.

    High service standard, definitely recommended!

Staying there for 3 nights, the first impression from the look of the building was rather ageing. But it was paid off by the excellent services provided by hotel staff and a very nice room.

    Setting a good standard

We stayed for 3 nights on the way to Sydney to holiday with friends. Close to Orchard Road, with usual Sheraton comforts and service. Quality amenities and even a good value hotel bar. We thoroughly recommend the many restaurants in the Chimes complex in the vicinity of the Raffles hotel. We would stay here again as you are assured of a comfortable stay.

    Good business hotel

Very comfortable hotel, within a 5-10 minute walk from the Orchard Road shopping area. Rooms are comfortable (ask for one with a view over the pool and garden, rather than over busy Scott Road). Service is friendly. The swimming pool area is very pleasant, and not too crowded.

Food-wise, the buffet breakfast is good. The Italian restaurant is very decent (although the wait-staff were somewhat inexperienced, and made a mistake with my order, although they dealt with the situation well).

All-in-all, a decent five-star hotel - albeit unexceptional; if I wasn't a member of the Starwood loyalty scheme, I'd opt for one of the other Singapore hotels (the Valley Wing of the Shangri-La is in a different league, for example).

This hotel was nice.. beds were a little hard. Service was great. Breakfast was great. Location wasn't all that great, but it is accessible to the major area easily.

    Very Nice Hotel

I have traveled to Singapore serveral times on business and this is one of my favorite places. The room is very comfortable and the rate plans cater to business travelers. Make sure to get a rate that includes breakfast, because the juice lady is not to be missed!!

    Great hotel

This hotel is fabulous. Daily breakfast and laundry service were both included in the price and I couldn't have hoped for a more curitious staff. The room was clean and comfortable and high speed internet access was very reasonably priced. The view from my room was great and the location (right next to the Newton MRT station and very close to Orchard Road) was really convenient.

    Most Incredible Service Ever (really!)

This hotel was the most pleasant surprise of our ten day trip to Singpore in Feb 05. Once you enter, the elegance and architecture tell you what a very special place you're in. Our room was large enough although not cavernous, and had a great view of the pool and the Singapore skyscape. Lots of nice touches were everywhere, including a central console to control all room lighting, three phones, a "real" doorbell, etc. The bed was the best I can remember in a hotel, on par with our ultra-luxury mattress at home.

    I like this place

This is the usual Sheraton Hotel, with very spacious common areas and nice, comfortable rooms. Very conveniently located to the subway (probably the cleanest, safest and most amazing I have ever seen in my life) and just one stop away from the heart of the shopping district. I really like that, for a reasonable fee, you may enjoy buffet breakfast and have your laundry cleaned. Though it probably caters to several business travellers, I really can't understand why the business centre is not open 24 h.
