First, I need to correct a gross error from yesterday. I'm sure the hydrologists were wondering about the Rhone warning level being orange and the locks restricting traffic. Well, my roommate Martin clarified that it wasn't the locks, it was that the water level was too high so bigger boats wouldn't fit under the bridges. SOR! I mean, DES!

So, last night I had trouble sleeping, ...

We are sailing today from Lyon to Tournon, there has been a lot of rain so the Rhone river is on Orange alert, which means that big ships cannot sail. The reason is that the Rhone has several locks, which are really really fascinating. I've never sailed on a boat like this before (not to brag, but I have been assigned the role of ballast on a catamaran previously) so these locks are so great! ...

Reims is home to many of the major producers, and we decided to visit the Tattinger cellars for a tour. Some of their cellars were built by the Romans and you could still see the tooling marks, as well as some ancient graffiti.

... them without cell service and exact coordinates. We had exchanged as much info as we knew, and I was confident it would work out. Luckily I had familiarized myself with the streets of Avignon a little the night before because of course I was late, sprinting to the train station before the sun was up, and cutting it really close. 5 August Day 9

We didn't dock until about 7am, so I got in just a quick little walk, but that was plenty of time to appreciate the vinyards up the hillsides and find my favorite little yellow and blue house :)
