Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico pamericasOk I know there is going to miscommunications between people but this one was big. I'm not going to go into detail but a 3 hour bus rid to hang out with some friends for the night turned into a 10 hour ride jammed in a suv with 7 others to go to a WEDDING! Ok, I don't have any nice cloths with me and I wasn't planning on 10 hours in a car. At least I got some free food.
Culiacan, Mexico macrosse1... who spoke fluent English and his staff were extremely friendly, as are the hotels owners. The spacious rooms are nicely furnished with two double beds, cable TV, purified water and wireless internet. Rates begin at 700 Peso for 2 persons but you shouldn't have any problems in getting some discount if you ask. I was fortunate to get a room for 325 peso as the owners of the hotel were ...
Cosalá, Sinaloa, Mexico amazingjourneys... are gated compounds where you drive into an open garage, close the door behind you, and enter the attached motel room through a door in the garage... you then put the necessary amount of pesos into a drop-box to pay for the number of hours you're going to stay - no human intervention necessary and totally anonymous (and pretty weird, but safe)... however all we could find was a Microtel Inn and Suites which is an exact copy of the Comfort Inn we stayed at in ...
Culiacan, Mexico jessandmalin... him to the staton and he gave it back. he then started saying something about how we wouldn't have to pay any money here or in town and asked for something else instead. we had no idea what it was he wanted but eventually he asked for $5 and let us go. that night on the beach in el dorado i felt a bit unnerved as we were very isolated and miles from anywhere and people kept coming for short periods. we imagined intimate encounters and dodgy drug deals and tried to sleep.
El dorado, Mexico 2monkeysAfter driving all day, we arrived at a small town named... Costa Rica, definitely something to be confused here! City of Costa Rica in Mexico! We were looking for the road to the campsite and wound up on progressively smaller... bumpy..., dirt roads and we eventually got stuck on the rail road track... with the travel-trailer. We discovered some damage to the bumper (a little crooked ...
Culiacan, Mexico bohemianeug... villages I find people staring with interest, and the ones that do speak english stand around, and i can tell they're just busting to ask me questions. Some quite funny, like "why do you not have kids!" haha. Most just curious about my travels about where I'm going and where I've been, and most of all, why I am doing this.
Culiacan, Mexico clintonb... is that wrestling is basically fake, and although i admired some of the acrobatics (cool backflips etc) after the first couple of matches you´ve pretty much seen all the moves and recognise the pattern, which is mainly the ones who get massivley hammered at the beginning always come back at the end. After we came back the bar man was making everyone drink tequilla... again, which is why i was feeling so rough for the trip. I did get my ...
Acapulco, Mexico chalk... finding the only open trailer park was not difficult, with the help of 'ontheroadin.com' and their excellent maps. However the park was locked up for the night. Well, not quite.... the gate was only chained, not locked. In we went, and a restful, rooster infested night was enjoyed.
Los Mochis, Mexico ddgfraser... but comfortable. I was brave enough to check with the station that I was sat on the right side of the train (apparently better for the views - good old guidebook) and I was. The, as the sun rose, we pulled out of Los Mochis and headed for the hills. I´ll update on the journey in the next blog, so I can put a map pin in. Before I forget - thanks to everyone for the messages, texts, emails - it has been great to hear your news too. Take care CASxx
