    ... ceilings were decorated with elaborate murals and carvings and many walls were painted to give the impression of columns, doors and windows, where there were none.

    By the time we had done two of the palaces, we had to take a break for pizza and wine, before we could muster up the energy to tackle the third.

    Genoa has been an interesting place to see, with its large harbour hosting some huge private yachts, some cruise liners ...

    ... lady checking out Katie's camera as we crossed a busy road so I told Katie to put it away!
    it was a very pretty place but very busy. We were on top of the bus and it was covered in a clear plastic. I felt we were slow roasting!! Yum/Yuk!,
    sorry I have to write this very quickly in an Internet cafe before we miss the last bus and have to swim to catch the ship.

    ... Surfers out but not much to catch. Train trip 2 1/2 hrs 6.90€ but only 75km. Milk run. Everything seemed closed an Monterossa- season over. Walked around and saw a sign i recognised from Lonely Planet which turned out to be a letting agency. Took me to block of units- 3 storey with 4 units per level and each unit seems split into 5 separate rooms each with ensuites. Would be noisy and crowded in season but only saw one other person. ...
