On the way we stopped at a unique cemetery. It is called the ‘happy graveyard’ because the blue wooden crosses are painted with pictures and short poems characterizing the deceased. We saw many stork nests in the villages, built on telegraph poles. We seldom see these birds at home as they don’t find the right conditions any more.

We were surprised to hear people in the shops speak German, English, Spanish ...

As I write this we have crossed into Bulgaria. It 'a after midnight and wifi is not available. Hopefully it improves tomorrow. Today we had a tour of this seaport city on the Black Sea. It is a city of 300,000. It is the 4th largest seaport in Europe. The main industry appears to be shipping and tourism. The infrastructure of the city, like Bucharest needs a lot of work.
